Join us as we discover technologies to support hearing loss

This webinar & accompanying handouts explore:

  • Tech features and products that may help

Missing out on what others say is isolating and frustrating. Hearing loss is hard, and adapting to its sudden or gradual onset can be overwhelming. Take control of your options and learn about new advances in tech that may dramatically improve your situation.

Could you use some help:

  • getting more out of the tech you already have,

  • figuring out the differences between hearing aid manufacturers,

  • learning about apps and approaches to listening therapy,

  • exploring a variety of hearing assistive technologies and

  • gain insight on effective strategies and tips for self-advocacy at school or work?

Meet our experts and advocates:

  • Ray Grott, the director and head technologist and assistive technology specialist in the RET project at SFSU, will speak about real-work scenarios and self-advocacy tips in the working world for adults with hearing loss.

  • Gael Hannan, a hearing loss advocate and author of Hear & Beyond and The Way I Hear It, will speak about how and when she uses telecoils in both her hearing aid and her cochlear implants.

  • Jane Hager, an MAT (Maryland Accessible Telecommunications) specialist from the MD Department of Disabilities, will talk about amazing new features available on a variety of phones and shine the light on the Pixel phone.

  • Kathleen Lehnert, an aural rehabilitation expert & speech-language pathologist with Johns Hopkins University, will talk about the benefits of listening therapy after cochlear implants and provide a list of helpful resources.
