Ray Grott, the director and head technologist and assistive technology specialist in the RET project at SFSU, will speak about real-work scenarios and self-advocacy tips in the working world for adults with hearing loss.
Gael Hannan, a hearing loss advocate and author of Hear & Beyond and The Way I Hear It, will speak about how and when she uses telecoils in both her hearing aid and her cochlear implants.
Jane Hager, an MAT (Maryland Accessible Telecommunications) specialist from the MD Department of Disabilities, will talk about amazing new features available on a variety of phones and shine the light on the Pixel phone.
Kathleen Lehnert, an aural rehabilitation expert & speech-language pathologist with Johns Hopkins University, will talk about the benefits of listening therapy after cochlear implants and provide a list of helpful resources.
James Whitney, an OT from MDTAP (Maryland Technology Assistance Program) will speak about and demonstrate visual alert systems.
Colleen Zenczak, an audiologist with Johns Hopkins University, will offer guidance for people interested in pursuing hearing aids and discuss differences between some of the major companies, such as Starkey, Phonak, Widex, Oticon, Signia, Unitron, and ReSound.
